Inspired by the influential female figures of the Renaissance – a time where femininity began to become immortalised in paint and marble by artists like Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Botticelli – our Autumn 2018 collection draws inspiration from the strong and inspirational female leaders of that era.
The Renaissance was a time when women began to take their role in history. Icons of style and power – like Elizabeth I of England and Caterina de' Medici, queen of France – started to define the idea of regal femininity through their attire and adornments. Already then, jewellery was a vital part of self-expression.
Our new collection of autumn style combines inspiration from these female Renaissance figures and our own Scandinavian fairy tale feeling to create a captivating story. Empower yourself with a sense of regal enchantment and embody the royal woman that you are inside.
Exploring a sense of regality
An interview with PANDORA VP Creative Directors Francesco Terzo and A. Filippo Ficarelli about their inspiration for our new jewellery collection of autumn style.
What has inspired your Autumn 2018 collection and why? ”We were very much inspired by the Renaissance, which has fascinated us for a long time. There are many parallels between the Renaissance and women’s empowerment.”
Are there any new techniques or innovations that you have introduced? ”The new Autumn 2018 collection is all about intricate details that require high-level jewellery crafting skills, from hidden and dangling elements to delicate tapestry-inspired patterns and engravings.”
Explain the concept behind the new PANDORA Reflexions bracelet: ”The bracelet is part of our new PANDORA Reflexions collection. It’s a new kind of bracelet that reflects the femininity and personality of its wearer. The bracelet is customisable with charms. Thanks to its timeless, slinky design, the PANDORA Reflexions bracelet sits beautifully on the wrist.”
What inspired you to design the PANDORA Reflexions bracelet? ”We wanted to offer women something that truly reflects them; their personal narrative, creativity and personality. Something that inspires them and other women. The bracelet’s clean aesthetic allows more room for playfulness and expression, and the fluid lines and clean look of the bracelet reflect modern femininity.”
Do you have a source of inspiration that you constantly keep coming back to? “The mood board, the colour card and how women wear jewellery are the three most important things that inspire us. We are also inspired by bygone muses and what we see in art and literature, exhibitions, culture and even the people on the street and how they dress.
Which jewellery trends do you think will be most relevant this autumn? ”Playing with contrasts is definitely one of the biggest jewellery trends for this season: mixing and matching old and new, minimalist and ornate pieces, dainty and chunky jewellery.”
How should women wear the new pieces from the autumn collection? ”Mix and match contrasting metals, different styles and sizes of jewellery, or stack and layer them. Thanks to the high level of detail, the pieces stand out on their own, whether you are a minimalist or a maximalist.”
What are the season’s standout colours? ”The season’s colour palette consists of metallic hues and purple—the ultimate regal colour.”
